The Bere Island Midsummer Run 10k is held on the scenic roads of Bere Island on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork, and forms part of the Active Islands Run Series. The 10k course follows the road network around the eastern end of the island, sharing terrain with the shorter 5k distance and extending further into the island's dramatic landscape. Based at Rerrin GAA pitch, the route takes runners past historic landmarks including a Bronze Age wedge tomb, a 19th-century military fort, and an Irish Army training camp, with panoramic views of Bantry Bay and the Atlantic throughout. The course is run entirely on tarmac and is hilly, with a challenging opening climb and a mix of rolling terrain before a descent back to the finish. Bere Island is reached by ferry from Castletownbere. The event is timed and Athletics Ireland licensed.
