About this race
The Break 4 the Border Half Marathon is a point-to-point cross-border race starting at Rampart Road in Greenbank Industrial Estate, Newry, County Down, and finishing at Carlingford Marina in County Louth. After a brief opening road section, runners join the Newry to Carlingford Greenway at Albert Basin. From there approximately 90 per cent of the course is traffic-free, following a path of tarmac and soft shingle along the shoreline of Carlingford Lough. The route passes through the village of Omeath before crossing the border into the Republic of Ireland and finishing at the marina. Organised by Born2Run Events, the race takes place on Saturday 12 September 2026 and is in its second year.
