Castlehackett 8k 2026

The Castlehackett 8k is a road race held in the rural village of Belclare in east Co. Galway, organised in aid of Castlehackett National School. The accurately measured and chip-timed course runs beneath the foothills of Knockma hill, taking in the quiet country roads of the Castlehackett area. The start and finish are at separate points within the local road network, with registration and race HQ based at the school. The course is gently undulating, reflecting the rolling terrain of this part of east Galway. The event is open to runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities and has a welcoming community atmosphere. Technical t-shirts are available for the first 300 registrants. Post-race refreshments are served in the hall following the event.
