The Clonliffe 2 Mile Road Race and Fun Run is the oldest continuous road race in Ireland, first held in 1891 and now in its 135th consecutive running. Organised by Clonliffe Harriers AC and sponsored by the Kavanagh family of John Kavanagh's pub, the race starts adjacent to Met Éireann on the Old Finglas Road in Glasnevin. The course heads south along the road towards Glasnevin, passing the famous Glasnevin Cemetery before finishing at the Gravediggers pub on Prospect Square. The opening mile is largely downhill, followed by a gradual climb of approximately 600 metres before the route flattens out along the cemetery to the finish line. A welcoming event for elite athletes and fun runners alike.
