About this race

The Braveheart 5k is an annual evening race organised by Trim Athletic Club, held at the Porchfields on the banks of the River Boyne in the historic town of Trim. The course follows a part-grass, part-path route through the Porchfields, taking runners past Trim Castle and the ruins of Newtown Abbey before finishing at the iconic Yellow Steeple. The route passes among one of the finest collections of medieval monuments in Ireland, making it a visually spectacular event. The course is relatively flat throughout, winding along the riverside meadows and paths in the grounds of the Porchfields. The race starts at 8pm and is chip timed. A technical t-shirt is provided to the first 450 registered participants. First held in 2010, it has grown into one of the most popular evening 5ks in the Meath area.
