The Run the Ridge 20k starts and finishes at the Laragh GAA grounds, next to Laragh village in the Wicklow Mountains. From the start, runners pass the old Woollen Mills and climb the iconic Zig-Zag trail through Derrybawn Wood before joining the Wicklow Way. After several flowing kilometres on trail and fire-road, the course breaks onto open mountain and gains the spectacular Derrybawn Ridge, a runnable stretch of exposed high ground featuring seven small peaks, the highest reaching 492 metres, with sweeping views over Wicklow Mountains National Park and Glendalough Upper Lake. A short descent leads back into Derrybawn Wood, where the route rejoins the shared course for a fast final descent to the finish, completing an 800m lap of honour at the GAA grounds. The mixed terrain of grass, trail and open mountain makes this a memorable mountain challenge.
