Castlebar

The Castlebar parkrun starts and finishes at the amphitheatre on the pathway behind the Lough Lannagh Leisure Centre. This 5k course consists of two laps around the scenic walkway of Lough Lannagh, a beautiful lake on the western border of the town. The first kilometer proceeds clockwise, leading runners across a pedestrian bridge and down a winding zig-zag path past the outdoor gym and playground. Participants then complete two anti-clockwise loops that offer stunning views of the water and, on clear days, a backdrop of Croagh Patrick. The terrain is a mixture of bitmac and gravel paths, characterized by a challenging hill behind the cemetery that adds a testing element to the otherwise flat route.
