Lough Key

The Lough Key parkrun begins just down the hill from the high tower and yellow exercise machines, heading toward the enchanting Fairy Bridge. This scenic single-lap course guides participants across a bridge onto Drumman’s Island, where they complete a 1.5km anti-clockwise loop through shaded woodland with stunning views of the lake. Runners navigate a picturesque route that passes landmarks like the Moylurg Tower and the Zipit forest adventures centre. The terrain is a reliable mixture of forest paths, dirt trails, and tarmac footpaths, offering a natural and varied feel underfoot. While the course is celebrated for being mostly flat, it features a few gentle inclines that add a rewarding variety to the pace.
