About this race
The Craughwell 10 Mile is one of Galway's favourite road races, organised by Craughwell Athletic Club and run since 2010 in the spirit of the much-loved Ballycotton 10. Starting in Craughwell village, the course heads out through the quaint and scenic countryside and surrounding hinterlands of south Galway, following quiet rural roads and the R349 before finishing outside Gilligan Park GAA grounds, where finisher medals are collected. Relatively flat and fast by West of Ireland standards, the AAI-certified, chip-timed course rewards strong, even pacing and draws a competitive field as well as recreational runners each year. Race headquarters is at St Michael's Hall in the village, where post-race food, refreshments and the famous scones await. With its friendly yet electric atmosphere and well-organised set-up, the event has firmly established itself as a highlight of the Galway racing calendar.
