About this race

The Galway 5km Series is one of Ireland's longest-running club road race programmes, now in its 20th year. The Caltra leg — Race 4 of 6 in the 2026 series — takes place on a Tuesday evening on the roads in and around the rural east Galway village of Caltra. The course is described as a traditionally very fast circuit, well-suited to personal best attempts. Organised by the Galway County Athletics Board in partnership with local clubs, the series runs over six consecutive Tuesday nights across different locations in County Galway. All proceeds support juvenile and adult athletics in Galway. One race number covers the entire series and a souvenir T-shirt is awarded to those who complete all six legs.
