The Kinsale Regatta 5 Mile is a net downhill point-to-point road race widely regarded as one of the fastest 5-mile courses in Munster. The race starts at Kinsale GAA Club and heads out towards Ballinacurra House through scenic countryside before descending to White Castle and following the Bandon River into town. Runners enjoy sweeping views up and down the river throughout the middle section of the course. With approximately 800 metres to go, the route turns onto Lower O'Connell Street and finishes on Main Street in the heart of Kinsale town. Organised by Kinsale TriClub under an Athletics Ireland permit, the race takes place on the Friday evening of the Kinsale Regatta on the August Bank Holiday weekend. The finish is right in the centre of the festival, creating a vibrant atmosphere for all finishers.
