About this race

The Navvy Bank 5k is a flat, fast road race held in the Quay area of Dundalk, County Louth, organised by Seán O'Mahony's club. The course starts and finishes near the entrance to the Seán O'Mahony's GAA pitch, beside the Navvy Bank on the shore of the Castletown River estuary. Runners head out via Mountain View before turning onto the Point Road and continuing towards Soldiers' Point, reaching a U-turn near the far end of the road and returning back down. The route then loops around the historic Navvy Bank, a tarmac embankment walkway dating from the 1840s, which hugs the waterside with sweeping views across Dundalk Bay towards the Cooley Mountains. Run almost entirely on level tarmac with negligible elevation change, it is ideal for runners chasing a personal best, finishing back at the club grounds.
