About this race
The Sheep's Head 10-Mile Challenge takes place on Saturday 23 May 2026, starting and finishing at the Tin Pub in Ahakista on the Sheep's Head Peninsula in West Cork. The course follows the Glenlough Loop on the Sheep's Head Way across a mix of road and trail surfaces, taking runners through the rugged and remote terrain of the peninsula. The route offers spectacular views of Dunmanus Bay and the surrounding West Cork landscape. Walkers set off at 9:30am with runners following at 11:30am. The event is priced at €30 and is open to both competitive runners and leisure walkers. Organised locally, the challenge has developed a loyal following thanks to the wild and unspoiled beauty of the Sheep's Head Way route.
